We've got so many friends who are currently pregnant or have just given birth. There's so much talk about how to decorate their new child's room. It made me think of what sort of a child's room I would have wanted. So this blog is dedicated to friends who have kids or are expecting. This is my take of how a child's room should be.
It doesn't look very much like a child's room but it is important to be practical. A child will not stay a child forever. I believe in buying good furniture for keeps and nurturing a sense of style since young.
Flos Viscontea lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1960. This is such a timeless lamp and the cocoon diffuses the light giving a soft glow in the room. It is important to give some thought to lighting. It sets the mood in a room, soft lighting encourages relaxation.
Florence Broadhurst Japanese Floral Wallpaper in Aubergine / Bronze. This is for a feature wall, the rest of the walls would be in
Farrow and Ball Paint in Bone. Sorry, I can't seem to save out the colour swatch, so click the link to see it. I love the richness in the wallpaper.
Leander Cot and Bed. This baby cot can be transformed to a junior bed. The design is simple and timeless.
French Bouilotte Lamp. These lamps are gorgeous. There are many antique ones around and you just might find one for a good price. This is to go on the desk (the next picture).

Maine Cottage. It can also be the changing table while the child is young (if you are really careful). I've paired this with the Eames DSW (white with maple legs).
Eames side chair DSW. This is one of my all time favourites. It is simple yet so beautiful. The Maine writing desk paired with this chair is sure to bring some colour and character into the room.
Knoll Eero Saarinen Womb Chair. They have started making these chairs for kids as well. It would be nice to have a big one with the ottoman and a small one without the ottoman for the kid.
Moooi Lolita Standing Lamp by Nika Zupanc. This lamp was first introduced at the 2008 Milan fair. The lamp shade can be tilted and the white shade is lined in yellow.
Vitra Eames Hang it all. This was designed to encourage children to hang up their things. However, the bright coloured spheres have also caught the attention of many adults like myself.
